EVENTS 2017
Friday 20th January – EA Gathering of Queens
Queen Margaret and Vice Queen Sandra enjoyed a lovely lunch in Norwich with lots of other q & VQs. It was great to meet so many others and exchange ideas and views. All the while being entertained by a guitarist.
31st January – Jersey Boys.
Queen Margaret joined the Fen Fatales and about 180 other Red Hatters at the Piccadilly Theatre in London to see the Jersey Boys. It was a very lively performance and great fun.
14th February – Red Hat Convention in New York
Queen Margaret joined with Queens Pat and Sharman, Vice Queen Mavis and Janet Smith to go to New York. It was fabulous. It started with us being in regalia of course, and soon after boarding the plane we were treated to a glass of something sparkling! The plane was half full so we could spread out and we did.
The hotel was right in Times Square and we did the lot apart from the Convention itself where we met the founder Sue-Ellen Cooper, Linda Murphy, and lots of others that were simply names on the Hatquarters website. We dressed up, exchanged gifts, three of us joined the `Glee Club’ and we all sang Frank Sinatra’s ‘New York, New York’ on Broadway.
New York didn’t know what hit it. We had a carriage ride in Central Park. Rode the Subway, went to Grand Central Station, Ground Zero which was so emotional but beautiful at the same time. We did Bloomingdales and Macy’s, went to the top of the Rockefeller Centre, had an ice cream in Trump Tower and ticked off practically everything on our list. One thing that we came away with, was that everyone was so friendly and glad to help. Fantastic.
4th March – Menopause the Musical
Four of us went to the Corn Exchange, King’s Lynn to see this. It was hilarious. The second half was better as it wasn’t as loud but it was a really amusing evening.
24th-27 March- Gathering of Queens
Queen Margaret went with Queens Pat and Sharman to Norwich where we met up with Queens and Vice Queens from across the UK. We had a medieval banquet on the Saturday evening . complete with morris dancers, belly dancers and a puppet show. All in all a very entertaining evening. It was a lovely weekend organised by Q Jude and VQ Gina of the Norfolk Broads.
30th March – Sunny Hunny Belles Coronations
Queen Margaret and Lady Laugh a Lot went to Hunstanton with Queen Pat for the coronations of Queen Zena and Vice Queen Dee. It was very well supported with many in fancy dress, almost all of which was in colours which was good.
27th April - Quiz
Five of us went to a fantastic quiz at Mendi's and were delighted to be joined by a prospective new member. We were supported by the 50 Shades of Red and Purple, the Fen Fatales and the Fiery Fillies. The 50 Shades won. There were only a few points in it, but they deserved to win. It was a lovely lively evening. We even had chips in the interval. Brilliant. Just what red hatting is all about!
30th May - Grease Sing a Long
We were invited by the Sluice Women of Downham Market to join them in a Grease Sing a Long and several of us were able to attend. It was a fun night with many other chapters there.
2 - 5th June - Red Hat weekend
Five of us were able to go to Hemsby for the weekend. It was jam packed with things to do including a trip to Yarmouth on the Saturday and a boat trip in the Sunday. Evenings were a splash of colour as everyone put on their regalia and danced the night away.It was great to meet up with old friends and make new ones.
